Enhanced Security Measures on International Flights

Yes

On this page...

For Flights Into and Out of Australia and New Zealand

Effective 31 March 2007, the Australian and New Zealand Governments will introduce enhanced security measures limiting the amount of liquids, aerosols, and/or gels Guests are permitted to take as carry-on baggage.

Each Guest is permitted to carry liquids, aerosols, and/or gels (with caps) in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each. All containers must fit comfortably inside a single one (1) litre transparent re-sealable plastic bag (approx 20cm x 20cm or 15cm x 25cm) which must be completely closed / sealed. This bag must be presented separately at the security screening point.
These restrictions apply to (but are not limited to) the following items:

  • Beverages & foods in sauces / liquid;
  • Shampoos and soaps;
  • Perfumes and deodorants;
  • Creams, lotions and oils;
  • Pastes including toothpaste;
  • Lip balm, lip gloss and lip sticks;
  • Hair gels, hair spray or other items of a similar consistency.

Pacific Blue recommend all other liquids, aerosols, and/or gels in excess of this allowance are placed in checked baggage prior to check-in. Guests will not be permitted past the security screening point with liquids, aerosols, and/or gels in excess of the amounts stipulated above, and will not be able to access their baggage after it has been checked in.

Guests may still take on-board items purchased after the security screening point at the airport, including duty free. These screening restrictions also apply at any transit point. All Guests transiting through Australia and New Zealand are advised to purchase duty free goods after the transit screening point.

Exceptions will be made for Guests with medical conditions (supporting documentation may be required) and quantities of baby food required for the flight. These items may be subject to additional security checks.
All Guests passing through an international security screening point will also be subject to random and continuous frisk searches.
