The Basics

  • Virgin Blue Airpass is our discount flight package available to international guests.  It gives you the best possible price, but it is not as flexible as some of our more expensive fares.
  • Virgin Blue Airpass fares are fixed GST free fares and may be selected from 4 zones valid for Australian domestic flights on Virgin Blue and Trans Tasman flights between Australia and New Zealand on Pacific Blue.
  • Virgin Blue Airpass is not available for travel on Polynesian Blue flights. 
  • You can only purchase the Virgin Blue Airpass if you are not a resident of Australia or New Zealand for tax purposes.  In order to purchase Virgin Blue Airpass, you must meet the following criteria:
    • You must not be a tax resident of Australia or New Zealand
    • You must be outside of Australia and New Zealand at the time of purchasing a Virgin Blue Airpass
    • Your residential address must be outside of Australia or New Zealand.
    • The credit card used to purchase a Virgin Blue Airpass must not be an Australian or New Zealand credit card.
    • You may be required to provide International flight details in support of the above
  • You can only purchase a Virgin Blue Airpass prior to arrival in Australia or New Zealand via www.virginblueairpass.com (exception for Guests with Special Needs who may purchase via our 24hr Guest Contact Centre (GCC) on + 61 7 3295 2298. There is no additional charge to make this type of booking with the GCC.
  • You cannot purchase a Virgin Blue Airpass after arrival in Australia or New Zealand.

Changes

How?

  • If you made your original booking on the Virgin Blue Airpass website (or if you are a Guest with special needs, via the Guest Contact Centre):

  • Changes must be made online or via the GCC as set out above. Changes are not permitted at Airport check-in.
  • If you made your original booking with a travel agent, you may wish to contact your travel agent to make your changes.
  • There is no restriction on how many times you can change your Virgin Blue Airpass flights, as long as the changes comply with the change rules listed above.
  • If a number of Guests are booked on the Virgin Blue Airpass and you wish to remove one or more of these Guests, you ,must call the GCC on +61 7 3295 2296 and pay the applicable service fee set out in the change rules listed above. You cannot remove a Guest out of a booking online via the Virgin Blue Airpass website.
  • Changes other than Time/Date/Route changes (such as name changes) are not permitted.

How much?

  • For changes you make using the Virgin Blue Airpass website www.virginblueairpass.com, no change fees are applicable. However, you may have to pay a fare difference (see below).
  • For changes you make through the GCC, you must pay a change fee of AUD$60 per Guest for an Australian domestic flight or AUD$65 per Guest for an International flight, plus any fare difference (refer below).
  • If you are a Guest with special needs, you can make changes through the GCC without paying change fees. However, you may have to pay a fare difference (refer below).
  • Fare Difference. Your new fare will be at least the price of the original fare and may be more. You must pay this fare difference when you change your booking. If your new fare is in a different zone/different route from the original sector booked, the fare difference may be applied. If your new fare is the same route (however a different date or time), there may be a fare difference, subject to availability.

Cancellations

No cancellations or credits are permitted.

Other important fare rules:

  • Baggage.  Baggage allowance is 23 kg per person free of charge.  Excess Baggage fees will apply at check-in for each kilo exceeding this limit.
  • Check in. You must check-in at the counters at the airport. Web check-in and Kiosk check-in is not permitted for Virgin Blue Airpass Guests.
  • Refunds and transfers. Virgin Blue Airpass fares are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Minimum sectors. You must book and confirm a minimum of three (3) sectors per Virgin Blue Airpass. You may book and confirm up to maximum of eight (8) sectors per Virgin Blue Airpass.
  • Additional flights. You are not permitted to add a flight to an existing Virgin Blue Airpass. You are permitted to purchase multiple Virgin Blue Airpasses’s providing the required criteria is met as outlined in these Fare Rules.
  • Number of Guests.  You must book and confirm a minimum of one (1) guest per Virgin Blue Airpass. You may book and confirm up to a maximum of nine (9) Guests per Virgin Blue Airpass.
  • No show.  If you do not fly and do not notify us at least 24 hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time, you will forfeit any fare paid for that particular flight.
  • Validity. Virgin Blue Airpass fares are valid for all direct flights only, and may be used for open-jaw or multi-city services. Fares are not available for published connecting or conjunction services.
  • Currency. Payment is in Australian dollars. You must pay by credit card or agency credit only. No cash payments will be accepted.
  • Time limits. There is no time limit between date of purchase and date of use, subject to availability. Virgin Blue Airpass is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of first Virgin Blue Airpass flight flown.
  • Discounts. No discounts (e.g. child, student) are available. Infants (under 2) travel free of charge accompanied by parents only.
  • Velocity. You cannot earn Velocity points from purchasing the Virgin Blue Airpass.
  • Partner Carriers. Your purchase of the Virgin Blue Airpass cannot be used to earn or redeem frequent flyer points on any Virgin Blue partner carriers.
  • Minimum connecting times. You must allow 90min transfer time between Australian domestic flights and 2.5h transfer time between International flights and Australian Domestic flights.
  • Seat Allocation. You can only request a seat at the time of airport check-in.
